have not pumped for about five days now and my breast are still full of milk. They seem to not want to dry up yet. When should they dry up for good? Will my boobs shrink also? My size already got smaller by a cup size a few months ago. I was just wondering if they will shrink even more.

hi ruth,
my daughter is 7 months old and i am more than keen to stop nursing, but
Rowan seems less than willing to accept the bottle.
i have information about how to make the transition by mixing my milk in
with formula in lesser degrees and cutting out feeds one by one.
my questions are about whether you think i will be able to get her taking a
bottle ever? and how to start?
thanks jazz

QUESTION: Hello Ruth, Thank you so much for the quick and detailed answer. I will try the things you mentioned. I really like the idea of putting a rolled up blanket behind him when I put him down to sleep(I had never thought of it before). We have never used the pacifier. Should we give it a try? Also, he has used the bottle only till he was may be 7 months old. After that he has not really used it. Once we start cows milk, could we give it to him in a sippy cup at night? Also, Would it help to move his crib to a separate room at this point (I mean he is already 12 months old). Would it be a big shock for him to not have his mom and dad around in the same room? I know I am asking a lot of questions... but my heart goes out to him when he wakes up distressed and I really want him to sleep peacefully at night and am willing to do whatever it takes. Thanks again for your help.

Hello Ruth,
My baby is 12 months old and I am still breastfeeding him. He has always been a fussy sleeper and still wakes up every 1-2 hours sometimes and is very uneasy until breastfed. We are trying to increase the gap to atleast 3 hours between his nighttime feedings. I am OK with feeding him every 3-4 hours but he wakes up every hour sometimes and lately is very fussy. He needs to be rocked and held and sometimes even that does not do it. The moment he is put down, he starts crying and fussing again. He sleeps in his crib in our room. Should I start weaning him and getting him on cows milk. My mom says the only way to get him to sleep through the night is to wean him completely. Please provide your suggestions.
Thank you,
Tina.

question:
1) baby appears to not enjoy consuming breastmilk anymore;
(2) i've been pumping 4 times a day for four months now, yet my supply seems to be diminishing.
1st issue:
my baby girl is 8 months and 15 pounds (around 25th percentile). she's always been a picky eater, but lately she has been taking less and less breastmilk. according to books and online articles, a baby her weight should be taking at least 32 oz of milk per day, yet she takes AT MOST 22 oz/day. the past few days this daily amount has gone down to 15 oz/day. she's very quick to push the bottle away and keep squirming away from it. she much prefers solids, so we have to give her a bottle of breastmilk first and then "reward" her with solids. she has sworn off breastfeeding from the breast since she was 4 months old, so i have to pump 4 times a day. i still try to breastfeed her when she wakes at night, but she just turns her head away and wants nothing to do with the breast.
she appears healthy and smiley otherwise, but i

question: Hi Ruth. I have a 7 month-old baby. I have been nursing him exclusively since birth. He has never had a formula milk and a bottle before. I decided to go back to work part-time as a dentist (every other Saturday, 9am to 2pm). I have a half-an-hour commute drive to the clinic (one-way), so a total of an hour on the road every other Sat. I have been breastfeeding my baby about every 4-5 hours. He is starting a little bit of cereal with milk every day (about 1-2 oz at a time). He is not very good at eating solid food yet. My husband is going to take care of the baby while I am away at work. Do you have any recommendation as to how to coordinate breastfeeding and work in my situation? I do have an electrical breast pump. I am pretty good at expressing milk manually too (it takes me about 15 minutes to do both sides). Should I nurse my baby right before I leave for work then pump the other side for my husband to feed later, or should I store up some milk ahead of time? If yes, how would I

question: just what the subject says, I have a 6 week old that is exclusively BFed (w/ exeption of two formula bottles at three weeks given in my absense by hubby) in the last two weeks she's become extra gassy and over the last week her BM's have gotten very far apart and thick...like thicker than formula poop...more like penut butter and is causing pain when she goes. I was wondering what could cause her poop to be this thick, this is my third and the only thing that's ever caused this before was to much iron. Thanks for any help.
